Q:	Can I cut down my tree?
A:	Planning permission is required to undertake works to trees listed on the protected tree section of the planning register or trees protected by a condition on a previous decision notice.
Q:	Is my property listed?
A:	You can search for Listed Buildings and Places on the planning register.

Q:	Has anyone commented on my application?
A:	All comments on planning applications are available to view on the planning register.
Q:	Someone has commented on my application. Can I respond?
A:	Applicants may respond to comments on their application. You can provide a response to planning@gov.je. All comments and responses will be redacted and published on the planning register.
Q:	Can you explain the application process?
A:	The step by step guide details the process of planning applications.
Q:	How can I find a planning reference number?
A:	Planning reference numbers can be found on the planning register.
Q:	Who is the case officer dealing with my application?
A:	Case officer information is available on the application detail page on the planning register.
Q:	What will my fee be?
A:	The planning fee schedule details the fee required. However applications are initially submitted without payment. We'll send you a fee breakdown and how to pay when we've validated the submission.
Q:	When should I expect a decision?
A:	The step by step guide to planning applications includes timescales on when to expect a decision.

Q:	Can I comment on an application in my neighbourhood and what can I include in my comment?
A:	Comments can be submitted on planning applications via the planning register. Guidelines on what to include in a comment are also available.
Q:	Am I able to be notified of planning applications in my area?
A:	You can register to receive email notifications of planning applications in your area via the planning register.
Q:	My neighbour is undertaking work and I haven't seen a site notice.
A:	The planning register can be checked for any application submitted for the property. If no application can be found, email us at planning@gov.je with the property in question and the works being undertaken.

Q:	Is my application going to the next Committee meeting?
A:	If an application is going to be heard by the Planning Committee, we notify applicants, agents and those that have commented on the application. The agenda for a meeting will be available 7-10 days before the meeting.
Q:	What time will my application be heard at the Planning Committee meeting?
A:	An agenda of the meeting will be available 7-10 days prior to the meeting. The agenda will include the order of applications and estimated times.
Q:	When will the minutes of the meeting be available?
A:	The minutes for a meeting will be available once they have been agreed at the following Planning Committee meeting.
Q:	Can I speak at the Planning Committee meeting?
A:	The Chair will indicate when comments from the public are invited at a Planning Committee meeting. More detail on public meetings is explained by the public meeting protocols.

Q:	How do I request advice prior to submitting an application?
A:	For household queries we offer a duty planning officer service Monday to Friday 9.00am to 2.00pm at Customer and Local Services, Phillip le Feurve House, La Motte Street. For major and commercial schemes, written pre-application advice can be requested via the planning and building portal.
Q:	Can I start works once I have received pre-application advice?
A:	If our response states that planning permission is required, a full planning application will need to be submitted and approved before works can begin. If our response states that planning permission is not required, then you can begin works.
Q:	Is there a fee for pre-application advice?
A:	There is no fee for pre-application advice. Further information about our pre-application service is available on our website.

Q:	I would like to comment on an application but I'm worried about my personal information being on the website.
A:	All comments submitted on planning applications will be redacted before it is published to the planning register. Find out what we redact with our publishing guidelines.
